These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the DotBox mobile and web game ("the app"). By installing, opening, or using the app you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

The app

DotBox is a Dots & Boxes game with single-player, local Pass & Play, and online multiplayer modes. It is provided for personal, non-commercial entertainment. There are no in-app purchases and no advertising. Single-player and local play work fully offline; online multiplayer connects to our game backend to match you with another player. Online play uses an app-generated identifier and your chosen username — there is no password-based account or login. See the Privacy Policy for details on what data is stored and transmitted.

Licence

You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, redistribute, or sell the app except as permitted by applicable law.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the app in any way that breaks the law or interferes with its normal operation. You are responsible for any nickname or text you enter; do not enter content that is unlawful or infringes the rights of others.

No warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of defects.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app. Because the app stores data only on your device, you are responsible for any data loss caused by uninstalling the app, resetting it, or device failure.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information beyond what online multiplayer requires. See the Privacy Policy for details on children's privacy.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above and noting the change in release notes. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
